Both were killed while Lamia was present, but not conscious: it appears that in times of great distress, she enters into a fugue state and does not have control of her actions or her memory. Although Lamia does not have memory of either incident, she is convinced that each died by her hand, as she was the only other person in the room when both were killed; as a result, she has changed her name to flee her past.
